Anadarko’s Newest Salon Celebrates Ribbon Cutting

 

ANADARKO, OK – On Friday, March 31, 2017, the Anadarko Chamber of Commerce performed a ribbon cutting ceremony for Shear Envy. The community’s newest salon is owned and operated by Jennifer Eden who has been a hairstylist for more than 7 years.

Along with her husband, Jared Eden, they have renovated the space where the business is located to provide a very clean and modern experience.

Jennifer is excited for this opportunity and encourages walk-ins to check out her business!

Best ways to spend St. Patrick’s Day in Anadarko

St. Patrick’s Day is a global celebration of Irish culture held every year on March 17th. It particularly remembers St. Patrick, one of Ireland’s patron saints who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century. St. Patrick died on March 17, 461. In honor of this holiday we have a few ideas for you to consider!

Here are some exciting ideas to enjoy this weekend in Anadarko:

Indian Arts and Crafts Board to Host Youth Competition

Indian Arts and Crafts Board to Host Juried Youth Art Competition and Exhibition

Anadarko, OK – The Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB) will host a juried art competition and exhibition for Indian youth. The theme of the competition will be “We Are Still Here.”

Competitions and Exhibitions will be held at the following locations:

– Southern Plains Indian Museum, 801 E. Central Blvd, Anadarko, Oklahoma

– Sioux Indian Museum, 222 New York St., Rapid City, South Dakota

The competition will be open to enrolled members of Federally recognized tribes between the ages of 12 and 18. Proof of the youth’s enrollment in a Federally recognized tribe and written permission of a parent or guardian will be required.

The competition will provide Indian youth with a realistic juried art show experience; encourage the development and expansion of their skills in production and marketing; and enhance youth interest in culture, history, and the possibility of an artistic career. All submissions of work will be judged by an independent panel of jurors. Awards will be distributed in the amount of $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place.

All artwork must be submitted by May 8, 2017. Winners will be announced on May 15, 2017.

An exhibition of selected works will be displayed at the participating museums from May 15th to June 19th, 2017.

In addition, the IACB will feature selected works from the exhibition in promotional brochures to complement the exhibition. Selected entries may be featured on the IACB website and in IACB promotional and educational materials.
